Sunday Snapshot: Birthday Girl

It is hard for me to fathom that Kaya is turning 3 this week.

And rest assured that she is already exercising her 3-ness.

Sometimes it is so sweet I can hardly stand it, & other times...

we take cover. ;o)

But in every moment, I am amazed that I get to be this little girl's mommy.

All because 3 years ago, I trusted God enough to say "yes" when He invited us to be His hands & feet in a way we originally said we never would (foster care). I'm sure He got a kick out of that knowing what I could not say "no" to.

The journey was long. It was hard. Our hearts were broken along the way by a couple of little ones that came & went & by Kaya's birth family that we grew to care for deeply.

And I am a better person for it. I think that journey was exactly the length it was supposed to be to keep me growing into who God intends for me to be.

Thank you, Lord, for stretching me & giving me the opportunity to step through a door that You opened. May my answer to your invitations be "yes" so that I do not miss the blessing of being in Your will.

Thank you, too, that we can look at Kaya & be forever reminded of what happens when we say "yes" & walk by faith. Happy Almost Birthday, Kaya Ashley Faith!!!
